War hammers were one of the most deadly weapons to anyone geared in heavier plate armour. Often used between the 1300's to the 1500's when plate was is its prime these brutal weapons tended to have a toothed or uneven frontal surface much like this one to allow for the hammer to bite into the armour better on contact.
This hammer has a short spike on the back and top allowing for back swings and thrusts that are both almost as deadly as the full frontal blow, capable of bending in plate armour and making it hard for the opponent to fight back these are really worth a look for any medieval re-enactor.
With a genuine hardwood handle and a weighty steel end this feels well made and performs well.
